Where to Watch Trolls: A Musical Journey in India: Streaming Guide

If you are an Indian parent or a casual animated musical fan, this guide walks you through every legal way to watch the 2016 DreamWorks hit Trolls at home, separates subscription streaming from rental and purchase options, and clears up one common source of confusion: the title.

Quick Answer: Where to Watch Trolls in India

Right now, Trolls is available to Indian viewers in two ways. You can stream it with a subscription on Amazon Prime Video or JioHotstar, or you can rent or buy it on digital platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Video, and ZEE5. There is no free streaming option in India at the moment, and the film is not available on Netflix India. Availability on streaming platforms can change, so the details in this guide were checked on 2026-08-03.

What Is Trolls?

A quick clarification before the options. The film covered here is the original Trolls (2016), the DreamWorks Animation musical that has been described under its theatrical tagline as "A Musical Journey." It is not a new release, and no film titled Trolls: A Musical Journey has been announced for India. The studio has only ever released three theatrical Trolls films: Trolls (2016), Trolls World Tour (2020), and Trolls Band Together (2023).

The 2016 film is a 1 hour 32 minute animated musical directed by Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn, according to Apple TV. Anna Kendrick voices Princess Poppy and Justin Timberlake voices Branch. The story follows the upbeat trolls of Troll Village after they are captured by the Bergens, forcing Poppy and the cautious Branch to team up on a rescue mission, per Netflix. The soundtrack, led by Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling!", was a major reason the film became a family favourite.

Where to Stream Trolls in India

On Amazon Prime Video

Prime Video currently carries Trolls for its Indian subscribers. JustWatch India lists the film as streaming on Amazon Prime Video, with an ads-supported tier also available. That means the movie is included with an active Prime Video or Prime membership, with no separate rental fee. The listing does not spell out the exact language lineup, so check the title page inside Prime Video for the Hindi dub and subtitle options before you press play.

On JioHotstar

Trolls is also available on JioHotstar, the country's biggest streaming platform. JustWatch India confirms the film sits on the platform's catalogue, and aggregator OTTASIA lists it on both JioHotstar and Amazon Prime Video. The film is included with an active JioHotstar subscription, which means there is no separate rental or purchase needed to watch it there.

How to Rent or Buy Trolls in India

If you would rather pay per view than subscribe, Trolls can be rented or purchased on several digital stores. JustWatch India lists rental options on ZEE5, Amazon Video, and Apple TV, with Apple TV also offering the film for purchase. A rental gives you a limited window to start and finish the film, while a purchase is yours to keep permanently.

Exact prices in rupees vary by platform and can change, so confirm the current price on the store page before you pay. If you plan to watch more than once, buying is usually the better value; if this is a one-time weekend watch, a rental keeps the cost low.

Trolls Is Not on Netflix in India

A common reason people search for Trolls is because the film appears on Netflix in other countries. Netflix does carry Trolls internationally, but the Indian version of the platform blocks the title. Netflix's own India page returns the message "This title currently isn't available to watch in your country" for the film, as seen on Netflix.

The practical takeaway for Indian subscribers: do not keep searching for it inside Netflix. Your two subscription homes are Amazon Prime Video and JioHotstar, and your pay-per-view homes are Apple TV, Amazon Video, and ZEE5.

The Rest of the Trolls Franchise in India

If your family finishes Trolls and wants more, the franchise continues with Trolls World Tour (2020), where Queen Barb of the Hard Rock Trolls tries to take over all the other musical tribes, and Trolls Band Together (2023), which reveals that Branch was once in a boy band. There is also the animated series Trolls: TrollsTopia, which follows events after the first film, per Peacock.

Availability of these titles on Indian platforms is separate from the first film and changes frequently. Search each title directly on JioHotstar and Prime Video, and check JustWatch India for the current platform lineup, before assuming where the sequels are streaming.
