Netflix

Netflix carries the month's heaviest slate. Two of its biggest August releases are conclusions to long-running stories.

Outer Banks Season 5 drops all 10 episodes on August 20. The final season picks up after JJ's death in the Season 4 finale, with the Pogues stranded in Europe and out for revenge against Chandler Groff. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, and Carlacia Grant return. Across its first four seasons, the series has accumulated nearly 200 million views on Netflix.

One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2 premieres August 5 with seven episodes, followed by the finale on August 26. The concluding chapter of Netflix's adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez's novel picks up after the armistice, as the arrival of the railroad and a banana company triggers Macondo's downfall. Directed by Laura Mora and Carlos Moreno, the series is filmed entirely in Colombia.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 arrives August 6 with all 10 episodes. The teen drama picks up from the Season 2 cliffhanger, with Jackie's love confession to Cole and Alex's discovery of it playing out alongside their father George's hospitalization. Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, and Ashby Gentry lead the cast. Netflix has already renewed the series for a fourth season.

Other Netflix August additions include the Ricky Gervais animated series Alley Cats (August 7), the survival thriller The Last House (August 7), and the thriller The Whisper Man (August 28).

Max and JioHotstar

Lanterns premieres on HBO on August 16. The DC Universe series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, two Green Lanterns investigating a murder in the American heartland. The eight-episode season is created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with James Gunn and Peter Safran executive producing. Nathan Fillion reprises his role as Guy Gardner following his appearance in Superman.

In India, Lanterns streams through the HBO Max hub on JioHotstar, available as an add-on starting at ₹49 per month. The hub launched in April 2026 as part of a partnership between Warner Bros. Discovery and JioHotstar, bringing HBO, Max Originals, and DC Studios content to the platform. Episodes are expected to arrive weekly.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+ spaces its August releases one week apart, extending into the fall.

Ted Lasso Season 4 begins August 5 with one episode, airing new episodes weekly through October 7. Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted, now coaching a women's second division football team in England. The main cast, including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, and Brendan Hunt, returns.

Women in Blue Season 2 (also titled Las Azules) premieres August 12 with the first of eight weekly episodes. The Spanish-language crime drama returns with Bárbara Mori as María, now promoted to lieutenant, investigating a murder connected to Mexico's 1968 student massacre.

Dark Matter Season 2 starts August 28 with weekly episodes through October 30. Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly return as the Dessens, navigating the consequences of alternate realities. The second season is not adapted directly from Blake Crouch's novel, with the showrunner developing original storylines.

Disney+ Hotstar and Hulu

Disney's August lineup includes a mix of franchise returns and animated originals.

Camp Rock 3 arrives on Disney+ Hotstar on August 14. The sequel follows Connect 3 returning to Camp Rock after losing the opening act for a reunion tour, with campers competing for a chance to perform alongside the band.

Futurama Season 14 premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on August 3 (via Hulu's content pipeline). The animated sci-fi comedy continues with new space adventures and the return of a familiar character.

Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi debuts on Disney+ Hotstar on August 5, continuing Lah Kara's Jedi training under Margrave Juro. A special Simpsons episode, "Yellow Mirror," arrives on August 26.

Other Platforms

Prime Video, Peacock, and Paramount+ have not yet announced complete August schedules for the Indian market. These platforms typically reveal additional titles closer to the month. We will update this article as those announcements arrive.

What to Watch First

With so many premieres stacked across the month, here is where to start depending on your preferences.

If you are following the Pogues, Outer Banks Season 5 on Netflix (August 20) wraps up five seasons of treasure-hunting drama. For prestige sci-fi, Lanterns on JioHotstar (August 16) introduces a grounded, detective-style take on the Green Lantern mythos within the new DC Universe. Fans of literary adaptations should prioritize One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2 on Netflix (August 5), which concludes one of the most ambitious Spanish-language productions in streaming history. And for a lighter tone, Ted Lasso Season 4 on Apple TV+ (August 5) brings back the optimistic coach for a fresh chapter.
